The NV Charts App is a well-structured navigation app that provides intuitive and comprehensive tools for onboard navigation. It allows users to easily download and use all current editions of boating charts or maps from NV Verlag / NV Charts for offline navigation. The app is compatible with the latest editions of nautical boating charts or inland charts, covering areas such as the North Sea, Baltic Sea, Netherlands, Wadden Sea, IJsselmeer, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Norway, France, USA, Caribbean, and Bahamas.

For an optimal chart experience both on paper and digital devices, NV Charts offers a convenient combination pack that includes paper charts in atlas format and a license for digital charts in the NV Charts App. This pack ensures that both your paper and digital charts are always up to date. Additionally, users can purchase digital boating charts as a subscription directly within the app. Subscriptions are automatically extended and last for one year.

If you're unsure of your destination and need to explore various options, the NV Charts App allows you to view free online charts even without a current subscription or valid paper chart edition.

Staying updated with the latest information is crucial for safe navigation on the water. With the NV Charts App, users can join the Seame boating community and contribute valuable content. They can add marinas, anchorages, navigation warnings, and interesting places beyond navigation, such as restaurants or points of interest. Others can engage by leaving comments. The continuously edited content can be downloaded and accessed offline. To enhance accessibility, the search function has been improved to explore surroundings and search for specific places or navigational features like anchorages, harbours, ramps, waypoints, cranes, petrol stations, or tide stations. The app also features an auto-routing function for direct navigation to your desired destination.

Sharing your adventures with friends is now easier than ever. NV Charts App allows users to share tracks, export data as GPX files, and coordinate trip planning effectively with others. The app also provides real-time AIS functionality. By connecting a Wlan AIS receiver, users can monitor AIS signals, navigation aids (ATON), and MOB AIS SART transponder distress transmitters directly on the digital chart for a better assessment of the traffic situation.

The NV Charts App can be installed and synchronized across multiple devices, and it offers a variety of features such as search function, autorouting, velocity made good (VMG), community layer/points of interest (POI), preview of free online charts for planning, in-app purchases of digital offline charts, tide forecast, online weather, AIS Wi-Fi support, AIS Sart Beacon, AIS CPA function, night mode, anchor alarm, GPS position tracking, intuitive route planning, course markings, port information, display of instruments, device synchronization, live position sharing, and social sharing of routes, tracks, and positions.

It's important to note that continued use of GPS in the background may significantly reduce battery life.
